reblogging on dw? no thanks, actually.
Dec. 19th, 2018 07:53 pmI just added this to a long discussion over on dw news, about the concept of reblogs, and wanted to also save it here.
"I'm a tumblr refugee who loved reblogs there, but am finding i rather like dw without them. There were so many times my dash seemed like endless reblogs of the same things, often without even adding any discussion. Tag blocking helped with some of it but alot of tumblr users don't bother to tag at all.
The issue of reblogged posts suddenly attracting loads of unwanted attention is a serious one. I would FAR rather forego reblogging entirely forever, than hear about ONE more fan being driven off the platform by trolls attacking their art or text.
The workaround of "here's the link to a post some of my subscribers might like" takes minimal effort, and works great."
