The thing that most struck me was how much tension is between Holmes and Watson, it approaches levels seen in BBC Sherlock. Holmes is using, Watson is very distressed about it, angry, wishes he wouldn’t, and says so. Holmes is kind of “make me” sassing him back, but not in a fun way. Yikes it would be super awkward to be in the room with them! It’s a far cry from the “consulting husbands” comfortable, flirty dynamic that’s in so many stories, or in the Granada episodes.
