Finding people here

I have been noodling around here a bit this morning, and finding people, and reading posts and comments, and finding more people, and then of course forgetting where i saw something. So i can't find where someone (new here like me) was wondering how to find a specific person. I just went through that process myself, and when the search bar in the upper right area failed me, what i dd was this: i clicked on my own name, so in the browser address bar it just said the basic address of my dw page. Then i edited out my name and put in the name of the person i was looking for, and voila!

Hello! It sounds like you've got a technique that is working for you, but about that search bar in the upper right, if you change the dropdown to "Site and Account" it will search on user-names. It will take you to the user's profile page (basically their about page) and not to their journal, but there will be links on the profile page to the journal proper: just click their name anywhere it appears as a boldface link.

Also, on the home page, there's a search bar at the middle right: you can put user-names in there, too, and it will take you to individual entries either by the person or that mention the person's name. (Also to any instances of that name as a word, so some names will give you a ton of false positives.)

i think i discovered that 'site and account' choice the next time i looked for someone. and i may have misspelled the name on the first try, and correctly on my workaround. :) hazards of doing some of this on the tablet with teeny weeny letters and a pretend 'keyboard'! :D
